How to set up two-factor authentication on CompStak

CompStak is enabling two-factor authentication to help protect your account and personal data.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a log-in security method that requires two forms of identification to access your account. In this case, in order to sign-in to your CompStak account, you will be required to enter your username or email along with your password as usual (first form of identification), and then you will be prompted to use an authenticator application on your phone to confirm your attempt to sign-in (second form of identification). This makes your account and personal data more secure as it offers more protection than passwords alone.

How to log-in to my CompStak account using two-factor authentication?

Enabling two-factor authentication is easy and can be done in a few simple steps:

  • On the log-in page, enter your username (or email) and password and click the "Login" button.
  • You will be asked to download a mobile authentication app. If you don't already have an authentication app on your phone, you can download Google Authenticator, Okta, Duo, or any authentication application of your choice through your App store or Google Play. Note: if you already have a mobile authentication app on your phone, you can click continue and open your application.

  • Once downloaded, click “Continue” and open your authentication app on your phone. With your app, scan the QR code provided to you on your CompStak screen or type in the key provided. Your authenticator app will generate a single-use 6-digit code. Go ahead and type the code in the required field then click "Continue."

  • That’s it! You are successfully logged-in 🎉
