CompStak Promotion FAQ's
- What is this promotion about?
The CompStak Promotions are an extra incentive for CompStak Exchange members to receive gift card rewards – in addition to the credits they already earn – after they make a qualified lease comp submission(s) during the promotion period.
- When does this promotion start and end?
The promotion starts on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 and will run through Sunday, May 10th, 2026 (the “promotion period”). - What is considered a “qualified lease comp submission”?
Lease comps must meet the following criteria to qualify for a gift card:
- Must be a commercial real estate lease comp (Retail or Industrial ONLY).
- Executed in the year prior to submission.
- Must be a Primary - A Primary is the first version of a comp we receive in our database.
- Contain all the required fields.
- Located in the US (All markets).
- If my comp qualifies for a gift card will it also earn CompStak credits?
You will still earn credits for all of your submissions. For more information on our credit system, click here. - It says the promotion is only for Lease comps, what if I have Sales comps?
Sales comps do not qualify for this promotion. (Sales comps still earn CompStak credits, but not gift cards.) - Can I submit comps for residential properties?
No, the promotion is only for commercial lease comps. - How do I submit a comp?
You can submit a comp directly through this link, or access the upload/submission page by logging in to your CompStak Exchange account and clicking on the “Get Credits” button at the top right of the screen.
Once you’re on the submission page, you can either upload your comps under any file format (for example Excel, JPEG, PNG, PDF, etc) or manually enter the comp details. Alternatively, you can email your comps to comps@compstak.com as an attachment or in the body of the email. - How long does it take to qualify my submission?
Your submission must first be processed by our Data Team before a determination can be made. Processing times can vary depending on the number of comps included in the submission, the file type, and/or the overall level of submissions being made at the time. - Is there a way to speed up the processing time of my submission?
There are several “Tips & Tricks” to ensure your data is processed in a timely manner:
- Data fields and/or column headings are clearly labeled
- Common addresses (e.g. 1 Main Street) also include the City & State
- Clearly indicate the submission is being made for the promotion – e.g. include “Promo Comps” in the file name or subject line (if submitting via comps@compstak.com)
- Formatting is consistent throughout the file (if multiple comps are included in the submission)
- Is there any way to see the processing status of my submissions?
Yes, you can check the status of any of your pending submissions by logging into your account and navigating to your Credits Earned page. - Why was my comp submission disqualified?
Your comp submission may have been disqualified for several reasons:
- The comp did not contain all of the required information
- The comp was considered an incompatible submission – e.g. it was a listing not a comp for a confirmed lease transaction
- CompStak’s Research Team has determined the data submitted is inaccurate or otherwise incorrect
- You submitted the comp previously and/or prior to the promotion period
- The comp qualified for and/or was rewarded for a different CompStak promotion
- Is there a limit to how many rewards I can receive? How do the "reward levels" work?
Your total reward amount is determined by the total number of qualifying comps you submit and the corresponding reward level. For example, if you submit 5 qualifying comps, you will receive the award for the 5 comp level, rather than 5 times the award for the single comp level.
Your qualifying comp count must reach the next level before you are eligible for that level’s reward amount. For instance, if you have submitted 19 qualifying comps, you must submit 1 more qualifying comp before you reach the reward amount of the 20 comp level.
- Is there a limit to the number of comps I can submit?
No, there is no limit to the number of comps you can submit.
- I submitted a comp, when will I receive my promotion? How do I claim my gift card?
Once our Data Team has finished processing your submission, your submission will be qualified and your promotion count will be updated.
You will then be able to claim your gift card by logging into your account, navigating to the Rewards page, and following the onscreen instructions. - Will I receive a 1099 for claiming my gift card?
Not unless you redeem $600 or more in the calendar year. Gifts, prizes, and awards to any recipient (employee or non-employee) are considered taxable income by the IRS and must be reported as such to remain in compliance with IRS regulations. Anyone who receives prizes totaling $600 or more in any one calendar year, including prizes earned in previous or future promotions that same year, will be required to submit a W-9 form and will receive a 1099 from CompStak for the tax year when such prize amounts were disbursed. - What if I don’t want to provide a W-9 to CompStak?
The Rewards portal will prevent you from redeeming more than $599 in any one calendar year unless a W-9 has previously been provided to CompStak’s Finance Department. - Can I receive the reward in a different form other than a gift card (e.g. for cash)?
No, gift cards cannot be substituted for cash or any other form of compensation. - Can I split my reward amount into more than one gift card?
Yes, as long as the retailer offers a gift card in that denomination. For instance, some retailers do not offer gift cards for less than $10 or $25. - Can I transfer my gift card to someone else?
Yes. Please contact MemEx@compstak.com for further information. - Who is eligible to participate in this promotion? What are the Official Rules?
Only CompStak Exchange members who comply with the Official Rules are eligible for this promotion. - I’m not a CompStak Exchange member, how do I become one?
